Plastic Model Airplanes
1/48 Scale Warbirds...The 2014 Edition...
The only kind of models we've built more of than wooden "stick and tissue," are of the polystyrene plastic variety...
1/72 scale is the most popular scale internationally. This scale was introduced back in the early 50s by British manufacturers Airfix and Frog. The smaller size of these models make them popular with modelers with limited space to display their collection. Way too small for my old hands here so... 1/48 scale became popular back in the 50s and 60s when Monogram and Revell produced a wide range of models in this larger size. Almost every major manufacture now produce models in this scale. If you're looking for detail, then 1/32 is the scale for you. These larger models are usually loaded with much more detail than their smaller counterparts. 1/144 scale is a great collectors scale as the models are very small and take half the room of 1/72 scale.

I won this thing at auction on E-Bay by accident, not paying attention to what scale it was. It'll be the last 1:72 kit around here for awhile... Parts are just too small for my fiddle thumbs...
